HARDWOODS OF MICHIGAN, INC. SUMMER WORK / SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Hardwoods of Michigan, Inc. is a manufacturer of hardwood lumber, located in Clinton, Michigan. We purchase timber from landowners throughout the state of Michigan. The timber is milled through our sawmill, then processed in our drying facility along with green lumber that has been purchased form other mills throughout the Midwest. Hardwoods of Michigan, Inc. along with Walker Lumber Co., Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary, located in Woodland, Pennsylvania), have sales totaling over $55,000,000 per fiscal year. Customers include furniture, cabinet and molding manufacturers. We sell throughout the United States as well as overseas. OBJECTIVE: To supply an ongoing pool of trained educated workers that become endeared to this company and may make Hardwoods of Michigan their long-term workplace. This work opportunity and scholarship can involve most any aspect of business operations. Specialized fields of study are not required. CANDIDATE: Any student that is not an immediate family member of a Senior Manager is eligible. The student must be currently enrolled in a Tech School, College, or Higher Education program, or has currently or is slated to complete High School and plans to continue their education. Students that are not enrolled in a Higher Education program will be eligible for the program but will not receive the scholarship money until they are enrolled. REQUIREMENTS: · 18 Years of Age · Enrollment in a Higher Education Institution · Grade average 2.0 or Better · Adequate Attendance · Good Standing with an Institution · Two teacher references · Complete an application for scholarship-employment (including cover letter stating why student would like this opportunity) · After work period is completed, a written evaluation is required, including a critique of the program and company COMPENSATION: Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis at a competitive wage. This will not include any benefits. At the completion of the program, up to a $1000 stipend will be paid towards continuing education. The stipend will be paid directly to the institution in which the individual has enrolled.
