Warehouse Employee

Position Title: General Labor – Warehouse Employee

Position Background: HMI Hardwoods LLC is a fully integrated, North American hardwood lumber manufacturing facility, located in Clinton, MI, with over 40 years of industry experience. This position requires someone that is versatile and retains the ability to adapt to change. The selected candidate for this position will spend parts of their day at our Dry Process Division sorting and stacking lumber, while the other portion is spent at the shipping department. There they will be responsible for warehouse organization as well as using short forks to load outbound trucks.

General Requirements:

  • Previously retained, or willing to retain, a short fork license (prior experience is a plus)
  • Must be able to be on your feet and up on and down loaders to prep loads quickly
  • Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Open to flexible schedule and flexible job requirements
  • Work outside in all weather conditions
  • Maintain safety and accuracy in stressful situations while also being pressed for time
  • Cooperative attitude is an absolute MUST
  • Must comply with MiOSHA and other operational policies and procedures
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week and overtime when necessary

Lumber Handler

Position Title: General Labor – Lumber Handler

Position Background: HMI Hardwoods LLC is a fully integrated North American hardwood materials manufacturer located in Clinton, MI (approximately 20-30 minutes southeast of Brooklyn or 15-20 minutes southwest of Saline). Our purpose is to provide the hardwood industry with quality logs, random width lumber and our trademarked Redi-Rips™. Successfully doing so starts with harvesting/purchasing and sawing green lumber at our onsite mill – most purchased lumber comes from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Ontario mills. Once master packs are produced we dry them in our climate controlled kiln system, surface, rip and package it to individual customer specs. As a lumber handler in our facility it is your responsibility to accurately sort and stack lumber according to grade mark.

Job Requirements:

  • Always place emphasis on creating a safe working environment for yourself and co-workers
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to comprehend grade marks (will be taught onsite if hired – looking for someone that learns quickly)
  • Demonstrate focus and precision
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Natural team player
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • MUST comply with MIOSHA and operational procedures
  • Dependability
  • Have reliable transportation Monday – Friday (occasional weekends based on production)
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week

Benefits:

  • Although this is considered an entry level position, there are advancement opportunities for hard working individuals that show a desire to learn
  • Starting wage of $10 per hour
  • If after two to three weeks you are meeting or exceeding the requirements above there is an opportunity to increase hourly pay to $11
  • If you continue to meet or exceed expectations for your first three months there is an opportunity to increase hourly pay to $12
  • 2nd Shift premium of $0.75 per hour
  • After 30 days of employment (with no unexcused absences) you will receive a $100 bonus

Equipment & Machine Maintenance

Position Title: Equipment & Machine Maintenance

Position Background: HMI Hardwoods LLC is a fully integrated North American hardwood materials manufacturer located in Clinton, MI (approximately 20-30 minutes southeast of Brooklyn or 15-20 minutes southwest of Saline). As our equipment & machine maintenance extraordinaire it is imperative that you are knowledgeable in repairing, fabricating and troubleshooting various types of machinery. You MUST also understand and practice the guidelines provided by MIOSHA regulations, as well as internal operational procedures.
